2 min read

Last week, the leaders of thought in Isiozi community gathered at the famous Riverside Primary School  for a special event. It was the commissioning ceremony of the borehole water project of Emelong Foundation. The foundation, Umuaka Times gathered, has been serving the teachers and pupils of the school for some time now.

When Umuaka Times local correspondent arrived at the event, the teachers, pupils, Isiozi community and other guests have all gathered and seated and were waiting for the arrival of His Royal Highness, Eze Barrister Victor Ijeoma, the Isiudo 1 of Isiozi Akah who would cut the ribbon for the commissioning of the water project. When the Isiudo arrived at the event, the entire people stood up and welcomed him and he blessed them and took his seat.

When it was time to commission the project and cut the ribbon,  the parish priest of St Joseph’s Catholic Parish Isiozi, stood up and led the guests in prayer  before the Isiudo and the members of Isiozi Council of Chiefs proceeded to the site of the borehole for the big event. The Isiudo prayed for the community, Emelong Foundation and its executive director and founder, Chief Emeka Ibegbulem. He blessed the water and asked God to sanctify the water for its consumers.

The Isiudo then cut the ribbon and the people clapped. The Council of Chiefs were led to perform the first official washing of hands with the water by the Isiudo himself.

For over a period of one year, the Emelong Foundation has been building the capacity of the teachers and pupils of Riverside Primary School in many ways including, its school feeding program.

Dignitaries who attended the event include Hon Emma Izunwa, Hon Dan Onumara, Hon Bonny Uzor, Chief Tony Duruaku, Chief Innocent Orisakwe, Chief Remy Alakwe, Chief A.U Akuta, Chief Andrew Duruanyanwu and a host of others including Mr. Gerald Ibegbulem, Chief Davidson Agams, Chief Eddy Ikwubuo and Chief LOC Anokwute.
