2 min read

The Parish Priest of St Patrick’s Catholic Church Obinwanne Umuaka Autonomous Community Rev Father Anthony Ohams has described the royal father of Obinwanne Umuaka Autonomous Community in Njaba LGA, HRM Eze Justin Ezeala as a responsible and responsive leader that has no Herodic attributes and sit-tight ideologies in his transformative agenda. The priest made the declaration while delivering his sermon on December 28 2023, during the Mass celebration in Obinwanne Umuaka as a part of the 2023 ofala festival for the Obinwanne monarch.

Continuing in his sermon, Father Ohams described Eze Justin Ezeala as a man of honour who has the interest of others at heart and who has no sit-tight ideology in him. “He is not just a royal father, he is a leader with a sound vision.”

A couple of months ago, if not years, the Obinwanne monarch in a message to Umuaka Times disclosed that he sees the problem of his community as his personal problems and is always on the lookout to finding solutions to such problems. To support what the Reverend Father Ohams said, in the last three couple of years, HRM Eze Justin Ezeala has won the prestigious Umuaka Times Royal Father of the Year Award consecutively. Last Year being 2022, the monarch won both Umuaka Times Man of the Year Award and the Royal Father of the Year Award also.

Reverend Father Ohams asked Christians in Obinwanne community to always remember their royal father in their daily prayers and ask God to give him more grace and wisdom to successfully manage the affairs of Obinwanne Umuaka Autonomous Community.

For those who may have a skeletal knowledge about King Herod, according to Bible stories, there lived a certain Herod the Great, a sit-tight dictator and the king of Judaea, who did not want the infant Jesus to become the future king of Judea. In order to prevent this move which he envisaged would rubbish his kingdom and render him politically irrelevant, ordered his soldiers to slaughter every male child from two years down born in Bethlehem. Over 100,000 infants were beheaded on the process eventually. The children are today referred to as the Holy Innocents and they are also called the first Christian martyrs.
