2 min read

HRH Eze Henry Izuchukwu Ojinnaka of Umuaka last week precisely on Tuesday 23 January 2024, paid an official visit to Hilltop Primary School and High School Uba Umuaka. The visit which was to interact with the authorities of the two institutions was made in the company of the president general of the community Hon Kizito Duru, his cabinet and some selected chiefs from the communities that make up the Umuaka (Uba) community as presently constituted.

While holding talks with the authorities of Hilltop Primary School, the Headmistress of the school Mrs Ike Prisca while making a presentation thanked the royal father for the official visit. In her presentation, she complained about the damage erosion has cost the school and the menace of thieves and mad people who at times enter into the school premises and defecate.

Another issue Mrs Ike Prisca talked about was the issue of smoking by some boys who enter the school premises even during the school hours to smoke addictive substances suspected to be hard drugs. She appealed to the royal father to come to the aid of the school and save the pupils by fortifying the security at the entrance of the school.

After the presentation, some members of the Eze’s entourage spoke about the issues raised by the headmistress. Chief Luke Anunuso who represented Umuezeala during visit, assured the school authorities that appropriate actions will be taken to curb the challenges raised by the headmistress. Chief Lawrence Ezike from Umuezikoha in his response hinted that first things would be done first. He told the gathering that the first thing to be done would be checking the erosion, fence the school and demarcate it from High School Umuaka and strengthen the security architecture.

In his royal response to the presentations, HRH Eze Henry Ojinnaka first thanked the school authorities for carefully articulating the problems and presenting them to him and the visiting team. He urged them to carefully put everything in writing and present to him officially.

The royal father promised that quick responses will be carried out almost immediately. To buttress this promise further, he disclosed to the gathering that the entire school premises would be fenced and pipe borne water provided as soon as possible.

After the speech by Eze Ojinnaka, the headmistress took the visiting team round the school for them to see the real situation by themselves. From Hilltop Primary School, the team also visited High School Umuaka which shares the same compound with Hilltop Primary School. They met with the school authorities and held talks on the way forward too.
