Favour Awuzu greets Akalites over successful election.

The newly elected president of Umuaka National Union USA, Dr Favour Awuzu has given a vote of thanks to all those who elected him and the members of his new team. Dr Awuzu who holds multiple chieftaincy titles was speaking with the American correspondent of Umuaka Times last week when the newspaper called on him.
In his message Dr Awuzu went thus: “First, I thank God Almighty for making it possible for me to stand today as the President of Umuaka National Union, unworthy as I am. I am also thankful to the immediate past administration especially the President, Mazi Eddy Nwokedi for the tireless and sacrificial job. He built a lot out of nothing and has left a big shoe for me. I equally thank the great people of Umuaka for the confidence reposed on me and my team. I also appreciate my family for their support. I promise never to let you down, so help me God, Amen.”
While describing the process that brought him to the top, Dr Awuzu disclosed to Umuaka Times that he was overwhelmed by the love, enthusiastic support and keen interest which Akalites in the United States demonstrated while conducting the change of baton from the immediate past administration of Umuaka National Union led by Mazi Edwin Nwokedi to the current administration.
Awuzu who described his team as the finest assured the American based Akalites that he and his team would never take their election and duties for granted. “We shall leverage our collective resolve to make Umuaka better, to not only exceed the expectations of our people but to leave lasting legacies.”
The issue of security in the community as well as the unification of Umuaka Municipal Council will most likely occupy the centre stage in the administration of Dr Awuzu. He demonstrated his keen interest in making sure that Umuaka is totally secured from criminal elements.
On the current political situation in the state, Dr Awuzu advised Umuaka born politicians: “It is not politically expedient for Umuakah to field more than 1 person in any seat but we currently have more than 4 candidates vying for same position of Njaba State House Of Assembly. By the time we are done Balkanizing our votes, ndi ofe mmiri will take the seat. I intend to have discussions with the various candidates aimed at seeking a consensus candidate if possible.”
The new Umuaka American team is made up of the following officers:

Engineer Ifeanyi Iwuchukwu – Financial Secretary. 7. Mazi Eze Ikeme – Treasurer. 8. Mazi Linus Opara – Protocol Officer and Parliamentarian.
