2 min read

A reprieve came to the household of HRH Eze Barrister Victor Ijeoma, the Isiudo 1 of Isiozi Akah of Njaba LGA Imo State last week when an Nkwerri High Court delivered a landmark judgment concerning the stool he is occupying in his favour. Mr Goddy Nwachukwu, a son of the soul of Isiozi community had approached an Nkwerri High Court to compel Barrister Victor Ijeoma from parading himself as the royal father of the community or as the replacement for the late Eze J.C Nwachukwu.

After hearing the ingredients of the case from both parties, the Nkwerri High Court struck out the case for lacking in merit and went further to conclude that Mr Nwachukwu had no locus standi to institute the case at the first place. Earlier before then, a couple of months back, the royal father had also won a similar case which challenged his ezeship as well.

When Umuaka Times went to town with the news last week as breaking news, many Akalites expressed their joy over the judgment and prayed that the judgment would usher peace in the community. Mr Favour Awuzu, a high profile son of Isiozi Akah and a Diasporan Akalite expressed his joy over the judgment. In his press statement which was made available to Umuaka Times, he confirmed that before Isiozi community secured its autonomy, there was a consensus among all the kindreds in the community that the ezeship would be rotational among all the Isiozi kindreds. In his words, Chief Awuzu who holds several chieftaincy titles including the Oputa Obie 1 of Enugu, Ochiagha of Ngor Okpala and many more painted a graphic picture of how the entire crisis started and how some mischief makers in the community have gone far in dishonoring the consensus the community reached on the ezeship in Isiozi-Akah.

While hailing the judgment last week, Chief Awuzu appealed for peace and love among Isiozi indigenes and charged them to give their unconditional support to the reign of HRH Eze Barrister Victor Ijeoma so that Isiozi Autonomous Community shall excel. He further appealed to the royal father to carry every Isiozi son and daughter along as he discharges his duties as the custodian of the culture and tradition of Isiozi community.
