Yesterday being Sunday October 24, 2021 was a great day at St Mary’s Catholic Parish Umuaka. It was on this eventful day that the much awaited yearly harvest and bazaar activities of the parish were held. In attendance were the Catholic family of Umuonyuiriegbe station, Umuduruorie station and St Kizito station Umuawaha. Al these stations put up impressive performances while presenting their harvest with funfair to the delight of every person present at the church service.

The atmosphere that greeted the event was electrified when it was the time for Umuaka station to present their harvest. Mr. Ebere Duruakubuo also known as Koloja who is the chairman of the Basic Christian Community of St Kizito Station took the microphone and mounted the podium. As a high profile office holder in the station, the congregation gave him the ultimate attention that he deserved because his speech was expected to come with deep substance. Mazi Duruakubuo cleared his voice and made a very important announcement from one of the children of Umuawaha; the American based millionaire philanthropist, Chief Dennis Ezeigbo. By the time he mentioned the name, “Chief Dennis Ezeigbo,” the church exploded with ecstasy because they knew something big was about to happen. Mazi Koloja announced a donation of N500,000 from Chief Ezeigbo, the Dike Nyiri Oha N’Uzo Eziokwu 1 of Umuaka (the indispensible warrior of the people on the path of truth) in support of the program. They church again exploded with deep rooted claps and noise making in appreciation. The noise generated by the people was very difficult to be put under total control by the Master of the Ceremonies.

As Chief Ezeigbo was not present in Church during the program, it was Koloja himself who received all the accolades and encomiums as the intermediary between the church and Chief Ezeigbo. Koloja who was full of smiles danced with his fellow Umuawaha men and women in the church in total appreciation of the highest donation of the day which was made by their son, Chief Dennis Ezeigbo.

During the last year’s harvest and bazaar program of the church when Chief Ezeigtbo donated N1million, it was the same honour that greeted the donation that was repeated yesterday by the same people at the same church. Recall that Mazi Ebere Duruakubuo by this time last year, described Chief Ezeigbo as God’s gift to the Umuawaha and Umuaka in general.

While answering questions from Umuaka Times reporters about the program and the donation made by Chief Ezeigbo, Mazi Koloja thanked God for giving the Umuawaha people someone as specially blessed and caring as Chief Dennis Ezeigbo. He prayed for God’s protection and blessings to fall upon Chief Ezeigbo and his entire family.
