2 min read

A couple of days ago, the famous Nwaiwu family in Uba Umuaka Njaba LGA Imo State was thrown into deep mourning following the death of the patriarch of the family Chief Ignatius Nnaoma Nwaiwu Duruohaneho, Akudinanwa 1 of Umuaka. Chief Ignatius Nwaiwu who was known by many as Oppose Them O Lord died shortly after his return from the United States of America where he had always gone on holidays to unite with his children and grandchildren.

In a press statement issued by Dr. Bernard Nwaiwu, a US based attorney and one of the numerous children of the late Chief Ignatius Nwaiwu, a man who has been described as “Husband, Father, Grand Father, Great Grand Father, Brother, Uncle and Father in-law,” the deceased lived a fulfilled life and died at 91years of age. The statement reads, ” At 91 years of age, Oppose ran a good race and positively impacted many lives.”

Umuaka Times confirmed that Oppose quietly passed on to glory on “Saturday, October 16, 2021, surrounded by his family at his family compound in Umuezikeoha, Uba, Umuaka, Njaba LGA, Imo State,” via natural causes.

When the Umuaka Times correspondent in America called on Dr Bernard Nwaiwu late last week to sympathize with the family, Umuaka Times gathered that because of the large family left behind by the late sage who has been described by many as the last of the titans, several consultations would be made before the burial date will be eventually fixed.

During his lifetime, Oppose was a man known for his gentility, accomplishments and good sense of judgment and industry, throughout his days as a transporter and beyond. He was a man whose family and all those who knew him were very proud of which was also confirmed in the press statement issued by the family. “As a family, we are proud of his accomplishments in business, community service and leadership. He lived a good, impactful and consequential life and positively touched anyone he came across.”

Umuaka Times sympathizes with the family over this great loss.
