How Emelong Foundation assisted Ukrainian Akalites to Germany.

Emelong Foundation, an Umuaka community based NGO has been providing social services and palliatives to some Akalites and others who have been displaced as a result of the war in Ukraine. The palliatives Umuaka Times learnt, were provided by the German chapter of Emelong Foundation. The Akalites who are now living in Germany as refugees after their stressful and successful sojourn from Ukraine have since settled in Germany courtesy of the foundation.
Already one of the Akalites has been provided with a good accommodation and some other household items and cash which he needs to begin a new life in a new country.
The Executive Director of Emelong Foundation, Chief Emeka Ibegbulem later confirmed to Umuaka Times correspondent in Germany that there was also a case of another Akalite who somehow found himself in Germany but didn’t know what to do next or who to contact. Chief Ibegbulem spoke on this development saying, “When I heard this, I swung into action immediately and brought the fellow to my house. Emelong Foundation has been able to give him the assistance he needs.”
As the war continues in Ukraine, many Akalites ad others from neighbouring towns near Umuaka Njaba LGA Imo State are still finding life very difficult in some of the European countries they ran to as refugees. Some of them who are in Poland are still battling to cope with life in refugee camps and the same thing is applicable to Germany.
The families of those who received help from Emelong Foundation have been calling and thanking the executive director of the foundation for the assistance. As it stands now, Ukrainian refugees of Umuaka extraction have so far relaxed both in Germany and Poland but not yet Uhuru. Thanks to kind-hearted Akalites who live in both countries.
