2 min read

One of the children of the late Chief Luke Ahanotu, Engineer Emmanuel Ahanotu last week told Umuaka Times that the immortalization programs for his late father are yet to be concluded by the family. The US based engineer and philanthropist hinted this to Umuaka Times while taking a walk together on the road he constructed in honour of the late prominent chief from Amiyi Akah community.

From what Umuaka Times gathered, the road which is named Chief Luke Ahanotu Avenue was originally a zigzag path which begins from directly opposite the family house of the late sage to the main gate of Umuaka Community Hospital. It was Engineer Ahanotu himself who put the road in order and has been spending huge sums of money yearly for the maintenance of the road.

Already, Chief Luke Ahanotu Avenue has been beautified with flowers on both sides of the road and functional street lights have also been mounted on the road. Engineer Ahanotu further confirmed to Umuaka Times that since the road was put in good shape, security has improved in the area as the move drove away bad boys in the area that used to hang around in a nearby hideout.

On the maintenance of the road, the engineer confirmed to Umuaka Times that he embarks on the maintenance project of the road 4 times in a year and each costs about N100, 000.

Just opposite the country home of the late Chief Ahanotu is a pipe borne water project where people buy water for domestic and commercial purposes. There is an inscription on the wall which reads that the project was dedicated to the memory of the late Amiyi born Chief and his wife, Lolo Mary Ahanotu.

Engineer Ahanotu finally thanked Umuaka Times and the people of Amiyi Akah and the entire Akalites for the love they have shown to the family in view of the recognition of the contributions made by the late Chief Luke Ahanotu who was born in 1902 and died in 2008.
