Insecurity: Aka Ebe Iri, police on manhunt for motorcycles with no number plates.

2 min read

The unending insecurity in Umuaka town has in the recent times assumed a dangerous dimension where violent crimes are being recorded almost on daily basis. Several victims of the criminal activities in the community have reportedly lost either their hard earned money or motorcycles and at times both. Those who have suffered the worst financial and physical humiliation under the deadly criminal scenario in the community are the point of sale businessmen and women otherwise known as POS agents and “motorcycle boys”. Umuaka Times findings show that both “motorcycle boys” and the POS agents get robbed at gun points on daily basis. Some sustain gunshot injuries as most of the robberies are not reported at all.

Challenged by this ugly development, the Njaba Police Division and the Aka Ebe Iri security team have teamed up and launched an offensive to clamp down on motorcycles without number plates in the local council of Njaba. According to police report, all the robberies carried out in Umuaka were done with the aid of motorcycles without number plates. Umuaka Times gathered that several motorcycles without number plates have been impounded by the two security outfits and many more will also be impounded.

Umuaka Times’ reporters who went on the streets of the community to assess the situation late last week, confirmed that roadblocks have been mounted at several strategic areas of the community in order to checkmate the activities of the hoodlums.

From what Umuaka Times observed at press shortly before press time last week, since the security exercise began early last week, some residents have confirmed that there is a slight reduction in armed robbery attacks in the community and beyond.
