Saturday July 8, 2023 was a great day in Umuezikoha Uba Umuaka community. Among other events held in Uba Umuaka on the colourful day, the star event of the day was the endorsement and the “home-coming” of the chieftaincy title of Linus Okwara, a US based high profile Akalite.

The Umuezikoha Council of Chiefs was led to the great event of “Ikporute chief ulo” by her president, Chief Raphael Duruji. Also in attendance during the event were the wives (lolos) of the chiefs who came in their uniform. The Umuaka Times reporter who covered the event also disclosed that among others, there was a group of youths known as “umu boyi” who graced the high profile ceremony as well.

The ceremony started by 2 pm against all odds and in less than 20 minutes, all the canopies hired and mounted in the country home of the celebrator were filled to the brim by friends, well-wishers and other dignitaries specially invited to the great event.

Chief Raphael Duruji who arrived the event centre by exactly 2:45 pm took time to visit each canopy to exchange pleasantries and ascertain the state of things and to ensure a successful hosting of the event. He and Chief Hyginus Okpara, the elder brother of the celebrator were at several times seen by Umuaka Times reporters who covered the event holding talks on how to carry out the activities of the day to the satisfaction of the guests, especially the chiefs and their lolos.

After, the presentation of kola nuts and other items to the chiefs, their lolos and others, it was made known that Linus Okpara who took a chieftaincy title from his Ibeakpu in-laws can now be properly addressed in any part of the world as Chief Linus Okpara, the Ugo Si Na Chi 1 of Umuaka because of the triumphant “home coming” and endorsement of his chieftaincy title by Umuezikoha Council of Chiefs and his kinsmen.

Several personalities took time to speak during the event and one of the biggest segments of the occasion was when Chief Hyginus Okpara, the Ekwueme 1 of Umuaka and the elder brother of the celebrator took a cup of palm wine and poured libation in honour of his younger brother, Chief Linus Okpara who was conspicuously absent at the event.

After the rituals of the endorsement of the chieftaincy title were performed by the Umuezikoha Council of Chiefs, guests had a lot to eat and drink in praises to God for the success of the event.
