Lolo Ogechi B. Obi sends her goodwill message.

2 min read

During the conferment ceremony of Nze title on Dr Marcel C Obi last January, there was someone that was conspicuously absent during the event. The wife of the new Nze, Lolo Ogechi B. Obi could not make it down to Nigeria due to some certain reasons. As it is said that out of sight is not out of mind, Lolo Obi was not physically present at the event but she was indeed spiritually and emotionally present during the event. All the way from the United States, she sent her goodwill message to her husband to express her happy state of mind concerning the Nze title.
In the goodwill message, she identified the fact that Nze Dr Marcel Obi had been passionate about the title for some time now and went further to also express her joy that the Umuele people, together with other communities in Umuaka found her husband worthy for the unique and sacred position of an Nze that commands a lot of respect.
Umuaka Times captured her in her own words.
“Nwokeoma, I know how passionate you are about being an Nze and I am glad your community found you worthy”. She continued, “I believe with all my heart that you are the most qualified because constantly, you have demonstrated and continued to uphold all the characteristics that define the Nze title and our children are as happy for you as I am”.
Moved by this special message, Nze Marcel Obi applauded his Lolo and went further to call upon the young men in the society to start considering taking the Nze title in their various communities across Igboland. “Today, I am calling on all young men who may be passionate about becoming Nze but don’t know how or where to start. Feel free to contact me or Nze Ahiabuo. Let us take advantage of the toned down process to rescue this great institution with declining population to save it from becoming extinct.”
On his final note, Nze Dr Marcel C. Obi told Umuaka Times plainly, “I can honestly say that the quality of being truthful demonstrated by my late father and his fellow Nzes is what inspired me to become an Nze.”
