2 min read

The remains of the late Mrs Comfort Nwaumune Onuegbu Nnadi (nee Ozurumba) were interred to the mother earth on Friday last week being 30th September 2022 in her home town, Obinwanne Umuaka Autonomous Community of Njaba LGA Imo State.

Before the burial rites began, at about 11:25 am, when the motorcade bringing the corpse home arrived at the family compound, it had rained heavily for some hours which made many people to raise some fears if the burial would still hold or not due to the heavy rainfall.

As nature would have it, the rain suddenly stopped. This enabled mourners, friends and well wishers of the bereaved family to come out for the big event and celebrate the woman who spent 92 eventful years on earth.

By the time Umuaka Times arrived at the funeral, the master of the ceremony had already gone into work and he was busy addressing the people and consoling them. Soon after, he announced the order of procession for those who would like to pay their last respect to the woman who saw her great grand children. First was the turn of family members and extended family members, followed by the entire Obinwanne community and other mourners from other communities both in and outside Umuaka.

By the time this came to an end, the casket was brought outside following the instruction by the MC. The Christian ceremonies then began. The officiating man of God who preached at the graveside, extolled the virtues of the deceased and tasked Christians at the event to always live an upright lifestyle.

When the graveside gospel came to an end, the body of the late Mrs Comfort Nwaumune Onuegbu Nnadi (nee Ozurumba) was permanently laid to rest, signaling the final end of a journey that started 92 years ago.

Many family members including the direct children of Mrs Comfort Nnadi could not hold back tears when her body was being lowered to the grave. It was indeed the most emotional segment of the burial ceremonies, despite the ripe ago of 92 Madam Nnadi spent on her sojourn on earth.

Madam Comfort Nnadi left a lot of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to mourn her including the Chief Security Officer of Obinwanne Umuaka Autonomous Community, Chief Festus Nnadi, the Ome Udo I of Obinwanne Umuaka.
