2 min readA foundation in honour of the famous teacher, educationist, women education and empowerment advocate, Miss Josephine Duruigbo has been established. The foundation known as Miss Josephine Duruigbo Foundation will majorly focus its programs and activities on education with a special priority on educating the girl child. Recall that it was in September 2020 that the famous teacher died after a brief illness. The establishment of the foundation Umuaka Times gathered, is one of the activities mapped out for the one year remembrance and immortalization of the famous teacher and Christian mother who devoted her lifetime in the promotion of education and moral upbringing of the youths in Umuaka and beyond.
From the fillers Umuaka Times got in a brief interview with the Executive Director of the foundation, Attorney Emma Duruigbo, a Lagos based lawyer and the principal partner Ducex Solicitors, the foundation, according to him, can as well take up the training of an indigent boy child, when it is established that the boy child is exceptionally brilliant.
Asked why the foundation was established in honour of the late teacher, Duruigbo told Umuaka Times, that “Miss loved education with all her heart and she encouraged every family to train her children in school to higher levels of education. She so much loved reading and in her 101 years sojourn on earth, she was still talking of education and its values during her last days.”
Barrister Emma Duruigbo, the Executive Director, MJDF.
Umuaka Times learnt from the Lagos lawyer that establishing a foundation in honour of the late educationist was the greatest immortalization gift the family, friends and close associates of the late teacher can give her.
The structure and some other programs concerning the foundation will soon be made public later in the year.
