Ugochukwu Iwunwa set to undergo treatment at UNTH Enugu.

2 min read

The 15 year old Master Ugochukwu Iwunwa from Uba Umuaka who has been passing urine with the aid of a pipe as a result of an injury he sustained in an accident will begin his treatment this week in Enugu.

Recall that a couple of weeks ago, Umuaka Times and Emelong Foundation brought the case of the little boy to Umuaka Times Institute where many Akalites and others have been making donations to facilitate the surgery the poor boy would undergo very soon.

In his maiden Interview with Umuaka Times, Ugochukwu told Umuaka Times that he has carried the pipe for a period of four years and has always felt uncomfortable among his fellow students who make mockery of his plight. The Umuaka Times correspondent who has been following the incident confirmed that Ugochukwu showed deep optimism and great resilience towards his treatment and recovery.

On the best medical facility where the corrective surgery would be done, Umuaka Times spoke with  Dr. Kingsley Chukwu Episteme Obioha and he recommended the famous UNTH Enugu where proper care can be taken. By the medical advice of Dr Obioha who is a consultant surgeon, Ugochukwu and his guardian are expected to arrive Enugu this week for preliminary examinations, investigations and evaluations before the surgery will commence. Umuaka Times was reliably informed that when the medical authorities establish some vital facts about the extent of damage and other issues relating to his health , the surgery will then follow.

Meanwhile the  Save Ugochukwu Appeal Fund established by Umuaka Times and Emelong Foundation has been receiving financial boasts since its inception. The total fund required is N2,000,000 and as at press time last week, over a million Naira has been realized both in cash and pledges.

Umuaka Times wishes to appeal to many to contribute to the fund.

When Umuaka Times spoke with Ugochukwu’s father Mr Chikezie Osuigidi last week, the man used the opportunity to thank all who have contributed and those yet to contribute for their love towards his family. He appealed to all and sundry to remember the family in their prayers so that God will grant him a successful surgery.
