2 min read

17 Year old Iwuamanam Chidubem Vincent, a football wizkid from Amiyi Umuaka Autonomous Community is a press-shy footballer. His shyness before the camera completely disappears the moment he sees himself in the football pitch to play soccer. Last year, when Umuaka Times presented an award to another football warrior, Onyekachi Durugbor also from Amiyi,  Chidube Iwuamanam was at the event in the jersey of his favourite club Manchester United.  After the event, Umuaka Times has spotted the wizkid in several football trainings where he religiously plays and leaves several impressions to his fans and fellow footballers.

Last week, the sports correspondent of Umuaka Times got an opportunity to speak with Chidubem. According to him, he started playing football from the Father Eburuaja Football Academy. He also told Umuaka Times that he was a top footballer from the famous Santa Maria Secondary School Umuaka.

Asked to pick a football  club he would like to join locally, Chidubem, smiled and picked Heartland FC Owerri. On the international soccer scene, he was also asked to choose the club of his choice if given the opportunity. Again he smiled, robbed his hand across his head and said, “Manchester United.”

According to the coach of Father Eburuaja Football Academy, Mr Uche Dike, Chidubem who left secondary school last year 2020, is one of his best performing football stars in the academy. “He is punctual, obedient and takes his trainings seriously no matter the time of day. He will go places and I am very sure of that.”

Chidubem used the opportunity to thank Rev Father Eburuaja for all his support in the development of football in Umuaka.
