2 min read

The Women’s Crisis Centre WCC, together with Umuaka Times held a special session with royal fathers of Umuaka Municipal Council last week on the activities of the group in Umuaka. The session was to officially present the organization to the royal fathers and brief them on the intervention programs the NGO/CBO has been carrying out in the community.

After the introduction of the members of the group by the Umuaka Times publisher, Darlington Ojy Onwukwe, an address on the journey so far was read to the royal fathers by Mr Uche Dike, the office manager of the group. In the address, he talked about the intervention programs the group has so far embarked upon and other programs and workshops to be carried out later in the year.

The address emphatically talked about the prevailing and rising cases of rape in the community and went on to seek the support and collaboration of the royal fathers in fighting the menace.

The WCC address went further to appeal to the royal fathers to allow their wives (Ndi Ugoeze or first ladies) to be involved in the programs of WCC which seek to create a better living for the womenfolk in the community.

WCC in particular went further to appeal to the royal fathers to hold talks with their first ladies first for them to decide on the pet project they would individually want to embark upon before WCC can then come in to build their capacity.
