High Chief Engineer BA Onongaya Ewurum, a native of Okwudor Ibele has expressed his deep shock over the death of HRH Eze Aloysius Ojinnaka who was buried last week. In a voice message he sent to Umuaka Times, High Chief BA Onongaya Ewurum told Umuaka Times that he personally got to know Eze Ojinnaka as far back as 2006 when he was one of those constructing a building for the late royal father. According to his voice message, while work was going on, he was able to impress the royal father to the extent that one day, the late Eze started to ask him about his backgrounds. “I told him that I am the son of Simon Ewurum, the old photographer. The Eze shouted and told me that he was a good friend of my dad. From that day, he took me so dearly and was always giving me advice on certain issues.
From what Umuaka Times gathered from Chief, the late monarch usually visited his palace secretary in thise days, the late Mr Alphonsus Okwara. knew about this. The Eze according to Chief Ewurum visited him at a number of occasions after visiting his secretary.”He really took me as a son.”
On the type of person the Eze was, High Chief Ewurum told Umuaka Times that the Eze was a highly responsible father because all the pieces of advice he received from the royal father seriously benefitted him.
“Because of how I related with him, the Eze bestowed me with a title and that is why I am today a High Chief.”
His death according to Ewurum threw him off balance because his death came when nobody was expecting it. “I am aware that everything that has a beginning must have an end. I pray that God will receive his soul.”
In his final words, “I can only tell you to go well my king. I will also ask God to receive your soul my dear king. You took me like a son and I will never forget that.”
