The remains of Chief Vitalis Nwanyanwu  known as Nwegeh, a distinguished American veteran and proud son of Uba Umuaka will be laid to rest on May 28, 2026, in his hometown of Umuezikoha, Uba Umuaka, in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State.

This was confirmed to Umuaka Times the elder brother, Mr. Osita Unachukwu, during a telephone interview. He assured that all arrangements have been carefully made to give the late veteran a burial befitting his remarkable life and legacy.

Chief Nwanyanwu lived a life marked by service and academic excellence. A former United States soldier, he was also an accomplished scholar, having studied at prestigious institutions including Harvard University, the University of Lagos, and George Washington University.

He is survived by his two daughters, his brother Osita Unachukwu, and a wide circle of family members and loved ones who will continue to honor his memory.

During his lifetime, the late Nwanyanwu was a lover of culture and football. Despite his social class, he found love in the midst of ordinary people whom he loved passionately.
