The rich cultural heritage of Umuaka will take centre stage in Lagos on Sunday, August 16, 2026, as the Old Umuakah Amalgamated Union, OjoAlaba, Lagos, hosts the much-anticipated 2026 Executive Oghu Cultural Fiesta.

The colourful celebration, with the theme “Uniting Our Heritage, Celebrating Our Roots,” is expected to bring together sons and daughters of Umuaka, traditional rulers, political leaders, business executives, community leaders and cultural enthusiasts from across Lagos and beyond.The event is scheduled to begin at 12:00 noon at Chemist Car Park, Chemist Bus Stop, OjoIgbede Road, Ojo, Lagos. According to information made available to Umuaka Times Lagos correspondents, preparations for the fiesta are at an advanced stage, with organizers determined to make this year’s celebration a major showcase of Umuaka’s cultural heritage.

The 2026 Executive Oghu Cultural Fiesta is generating considerable excitement within the Umuaka community, with indications that it could become the biggest and most impressive Oghu dance celebration held in Lagos in at least the last 10 years.

Highly dependable sources who spoke with Umuaka Times last week disclosed that the organizers have made special arrangements to bring some of the most highly skilled oghu dancers from Umuaka and other parts of the community to Lagos for the occasion.

The dancers, who have been specially and exclusively invited for the fiesta, are expected to demonstrate the skill, discipline and cultural knowledge associated with traditional oghu dancing. Their participation is expected to give the celebration an authentic cultural character while also providing younger Umuaka people in Lagos with an opportunity to experience performances that connect them directly with the traditions of their ancestral home.Also expected to add colour and excitement to the program are highly talented abuoghu musicians and singers, whose performances are expected to be among the major attractions of the day.
