Pastor George Izunwa warns NUPI…proposes govt of national unity.
2 min readThe Lead Pastor of Gateway International Church Port Harcourt, George Izunwa has warned the leadership of the New Umuaka Project Initiative NUPI over its decision to freeze the accounts of the body through a court order. Last Week, Pastor George issued a press statement to diffuse the tension already created in the group.
The man of God in his unusual manner sued for peace and kicked against freezing of the account of the organization. He warned that the move to freeze the NUPI bank accounts could be counterproductive, considering the long years of court cases in Nigeria. He cited an example of an organization in Port Harcourt which made the same move and for over 16 years, the accounts of the organization are still frozen due to unending legal battles.
On the solution to the crisis, Pastor George recommended a government of national unity where all the stakeholders etc will be represented until total peace and a harmonious atmosphere are restored. In a private chat with Umuaka Times, the pastor suggested that the royal fathers in Umuaka can assist in the formation of the government of national unity so as to create a soft landing for the community.
For some time now, NUPI has been undergoing an undiluted internal crisis period. The crisis has created factions among the group as the executive body of the group which is led by Dr Austin Agbahiwe has been accused of several misconducts including financial recklessness.
