3 min readWith gratitude to God, we celebrate the life of our beloved Mother, Mother Dorothy Adanta Oguike (nne Amadike) also known as Nne Okwukwe who by the special grace of God journeyed through this world for 83years. She was the first daughter of her parents Mr.& Mrs. Onyeji Amadike.
She was born on 23rd November 1939, into the family of late Mr. Onyeji Amadike and Mrs. Justine Amadike of Ndi-Uhu Ibele Umuaka in Njaba L,G,A of Imo State.
Marriage life: Her early life was spent in the village. Nma, very beautiful young lady stood appealing to her handsome young man and from the little after getting to know each other blossomed into a beautiful marriage with elder Francis Oguike. The wedded in Catholic Church because both families were staunch Catholic families.
Nma joined Christ Holy Church International in the early 70s as a result of prolonged sickness which was healed after just about a week of worship. She was first ordained Christian other in Christ Holy Church International Lagos in the late 70s.
Education and social life: In furtherance of her career, our mother proceeded to Grace Theological School of Ministers and graduated in October 2001.
As a devoted Christian, she was the treasurer of Christ Holy church International for more than 20years, she converted her husband who was a staunch Catholic to Christ Holy Church she was later ordained an elder of the church.
Our mother is likened to the biblical virtuous women of Proverbs 31:1- end, she was highly enterprising. She did business in Lagos State to the fullest. Apart from being enterprising, she also had a major achievement of raising her children and caring for her family which she performed with dexterity and excellence. An economist per excellence, who would budget efficiently, saves wisely and could extend a small housekeeping allowance over several more days or months. Our mum knew what mattered most and took care to them. She avoided persons and groups who were loud, proud and could not prioritize their time, friendship and resources. She was deeply loyal to her family, friends and those that stood you for truth and justice.
Mama travelled extensively within Nigeria and South Africa where her children live, in all these places, she connected well with the local community, her children’s friends and the local church. Her smile and cheerfulness were electric and left indelible marks in the memories of all she met.
For 83 years, Nma was on a journey which she embraced with unequalled confidence, hope determination and grateful to succeed which I believe she did beyond her wildest imagination.
Our darling mother provided tremendous rock/solid support to her husband in raising beautiful children that are all master’s degree holders, grandchildren and assisted counseled and supported many others.
Many considered her as the person to go for assistance and advice. More importantly, Nma had a simple but strong faith in God and believed strongly in letting the will of God happen in her family life.
We remain eternally grateful to God for the gift of Nma to us. Nma led a good life and lived it to the fullest because of her nature and simplicity. Her needs were few and easily met. We learnt so much and benefitted immensely from her deep humility, knowledge and counsel as well as grateful for her central message and objective:
Let love and peace prevail amongst you.
For this she worked tirelessly and left it as her only and last testament for our family; love one another. Nma, we promise to do our best to ensure this love and peace you so cherished and preached continue to prevail amongst us.
With full faith in the promise of Jesus Christ, that for those who believe death is not a transition from temporality to eternal life, we commit our beloved mother; mother Dorothy Adanta Oguike to the Almighty God.
Nma you fought the good fight, you kept the faith. We pray the good and merciful Lord grant you the crown of glory to and may you rest in perfect peace. (Amen)
