Sunday 28 August 2022 was a great day in Lagos among the members of Proactive Diamond Friends Club of Nigeria. The event which created the greatness was the 2022 edition of Oghu Lagos which was exclusively organized by the members of Proactive Diamond Friends Club of Nigeria. The event which was billed to kick off by 10 am on the same date really started very late about 4 hours behind schedule. The late start of the event did not alter the activities mapped out for the big show in any form or shape. Around 1 pm, special guests, dignitaries, members of the club and their special invitees had started to arrive and in no small time, the premises of Christian Council of Nigeria Nursery and Primary School, 5th Avenue W Close Festac Town Lagos the venue of the event was filled to its capacity.

Shortly afterwards, the master of the ceremony took the microphone and announced that the dancers, specially selected from Umuaka and other towns were about to enter the arena. People who had their phones on were set to take the video recording of the sensational entry of the dancers. In a straight line, the dancers were seen coming to the arena while dancing. As they were coming, they were also being escorted by some prominent members of the club. The main event has begun!

Before the oghu dance properly kicked off, members of Diamond Friends Club were seated in a special canopy, each with his banner hanging across his shoulders. The design of the banner and the different attires the members were putting on constituted a beauty to behold.

Soon the chairman of the occasion Mr Austin O. Nnametu, a Lagos based businessman and the Managing Director, De Best Ultra Sound Furniture arrived and he was ushered in by the members of the club. So too was the arrival of the Chief Guest of Honour Chief Barth Nwadialor, the Ikuku Oma 1 of Okija, Anambra State.

Perhaps the greatest side attraction of the event was when His Royal Highness, Eze Cesar Ugochukwu Duruegbusuo, the traditional ruler of Umuele Amazano Autonomous Community Imo State arrived at the event. The royal father popularly known as Eze Caesar is the founder and patron of Proactive Diamond Friends Club of Nigeria. The royal father who could not hide his joy over the event, at a point, took a special oghu musical instrument, known as ogene and played it for a while alongside other instrumentalists.

While appreciating the event, the chairman of the occasion Mr Nnametu donated the sum of N100,000 to break the kola-nut which was presented to him by the club. Chief Nnamezie also did the same and further presented the kola-nuts to Eze Caesar with the sum of N20,000.

Moved by the cultural display of kola-nuts and the donations that followed, the president of the club Mr Chidi Iwuoha also donated N20,000 to present kola-nuts to Eze Caesar.

At the end of the presentations of kola-nuts to different dignitaries, the oghu dance picked up again. At a certain time the oghu music singer Emma Agaegburumnwa took the microphone to entertain the guests with some abu oghu (oghu songs).

By the time the event ended, many people wished it could continue but as it is a well known fact that anything that has a beginning will surely have an end. After the oghu dance came to an end, time for refreshments started and many who came for the event, enjoyed the food and drinks the club presented to them.
