The Eze Ojinnaka’s Requiem Mass.
2 min readBecause of the personality and royal status of Eze Ojinnaka as the last of the titans, about 4 reverend fathers celebrated the requiem Mass for the late Eze Ojinnaka which was held at St Mary’s Catholic Church Umuaka. It is a well known fact that the late royal father worshiped in this church for the greater part of his life.
The officiating priest took time to thank God for the gift of life the Almighty God bestowed on the royal father. He also thanked God for the same gift of life he gave to the congregation and charged them to live a good life. He described the death of a believer in God as a transition which the royal father has already transited. He reminded the congregation that the royal father has played his own role and gone and what follows should be judgment. He finally appealed to the congregation to amend their sinful ways and follow the Bible principles.
Before the close of the church service, the priest called upon the new royal father, HRH Eze Henry Ojinnaka to make a closing remark. For some certain reasons, Chief Marcel Duruchukwu, the Akajiugo 1 of Umuaka and an elderly uncle of the new royal father stepped out and spoke on behalf of the Ojinnaka family.
First, Chief Duruchukwu greeted all the people who left their duties and personal commitments and decided to be with the Ojinnakas on the death of the royal father. He equally thanked the choir, church workers as well as the four priests who conducted the Mass for their love and acceptance of the Ojinnaka family.
After he was done with the greetings, he then apologized for the lateness that greeted the requiem Mass. According to him, the family was subjected to a lot of protocols at the Aladimma Mortuary. He finally appealed to the people to also make it to the Ojinnaka royal family house for the interment.
Shortly after his historic speech, the church service came to an end.
As he appealed, they congregation went with the family for the interment where the body of the royal Father, Eze Aloysius Ojinnaka was finally laid to rest.
