The funny side of Chief Gabriel Owowo’s burial.

2 min read

It was also a period of fun and laughter when the burial of Chief Gabriel Owowo was held last week in Uba Umuaka. When the corpse of the gentleman arrived his family compound, his daughters were seen with some containers of powder which they splashed on mourners and visitors who came to pay their last respect. Some others tried to question why that was being done.

One of the persons who received this “powder blessing” was ace musician, Sonex Oguike. The lady who splashed the powder on him was so generous that the white powder changed almost the entire blue senator attire Oguike was putting on.  While speaking on the microphone, Oguike said, “please anyone who lives up to 120 years, his children should find me and bath me with powder.” Sonex equally prayed that God will give him 119 years on earth instead of 120 years.

Another episode that caught the attention of Umuaka Times was when the 82 set of Old Boys Association of High School umuaka came to greet Chief Emma Owowo alias Kato. This group was led by the controversial ex- student Mr Peter Laz who many students refer to as “Fridaic.” When it was their turn to address the people nd the chief murner, Chief Emma Owowo, in his usual funny way, Mr Peter Laz boasted that he was more brilliant than Kato when they were in school and also boasted further that he was richer than Owowo as well. The old boys group made some presentations to Chief Emma Owowo and left for their canopy.

The undertakers who provided the ambulance service at the event also created some scenes outside the compound. There was a serious scuffle between them over the sharing formula for the “stage money” they made while dancing with the casket of Chief Owowo. The guy who picked all the “stage money” did not want to share the money equally and this led to a big “wahala” among them. After the guy noticed that his colleagues were out for him, he did the needful and peace immediately restored among them.
