The second list of awardees for Umuaka Times Merit Award 2022.

1. Lifetime Achievement Award for Peace and Unity in Umuaka. 

Winner: HRH Eze Caesar Ugochukwu Duruegbusuo of Umuele Amazano Autonomous Community.

JUSTIFICATIONS: 1 His Royal Highness Eze Caesar Duruegbusuo has funded several meetings to ensure peace among various autonomous communities in Umuaka Municipal Council. He played a vital role in resolving the crisis that erupted during the construction of Njaba stadium.

 3It was Eze Caesar who led other royal fathers in Umuaka and they resolved the problem facing Akah federal union. Eze Caesar set up many committees to resolve NUPI crisis and held various round table conferences to the same crisis.

He also has played a vital role on how to bring life into Umuaka Community Hospital.

2. Umuaka Times Integrity Award of the Year.

Winner: Chief Dennis Ezeigbo.

JUSTIFICATIONS: Chief Ezeigbo has always contributed financially to the development of his community and is known for his truthfulness and honest disposition during settlements of crises both in Nigeria and United States.

3. Outstanding Female Lawyer of the Year.

Winner: Barrister Gloria Akano.

JUSTIFICATIONS: Barrister Gloria Akano has used her position as a lawyer and built the capacity of Umuezeala women through several empowerment programs. She also empowered them during the Covid19 lockdown. Above all these, she is the first Umuaka born female lawyer to open her own law firm in Lagos.

4. Umuaka Unity and Progress Service Award.

Winner: Dr Eddy Ikwubuo.

JUSTIFICATIONS: Dr Eddy Ikwubuowho is also High Chief Ikwubuo has held several meetings with traditional rulers in Umuaka Municipal Council on the way forward for Umuaka. He has summoned all the presidents- general in Umuaka Municipal Council on how best to resolve the Umuaka Community Hospital crisis. Dr Ikwubuo did all these with his personal resources.

He single handedly resolved a high court case between Uba community and Eze Justin Ezeala of Obinwanne thereby promoting peace and diplomatic relations between the two communities. Intervened positively with the former IMC chairman of Njaba LGA on the Uba Umuaka Relief Market crisis. He also mediated and insured peace between the developer of the market and the various land owners at the market.

5. NGO Person of the Year.

Winner: Chief Emeka Ibegbulem

JUSTIFICATIONS: Chief Emeka Ibegbulem has used his foundation known as Emelong Foundation and impacted positively on Riverside Primary School and modernized the school. He has continued to feed the pupils of the school till date.

6. Best Graduating Student of the Year (International).

Winner: Chiamaka Virtue Igbokwuwe.

JUSTIFICATIONS: Graduated with Masters Degree in Civil Engineering (M. Eng.) – First Class Honours from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom.

7. Policeman of the Year Award.

Winner: SP Martins Emere: (DPO Njaba Police Station).

JUSTIFICATIONS: The DPO has painstakingly and assiduously worked so hard to bring insecurity down in Njaba since his arrival in Njaba Police Division of the Nigerian Police Force. The second burning of Njaba Police Division in Umuaka was resisted stoutly and gallantly by him and his boys. The DPO currently manages Njaba and Isu LGA policing activities.

 Clergyman of the Year.

Winner: Father Emmanuel Eburuala.

JUSTIFICATIONS: Father Emmanuel Eburuaja has been able to demonstrate love and capacity building towards Umuaka people both in and outside Nigeria especially in the areas of education and sports.

8. Youth Ambassador of the Year.

Winner: Chief Chidi Appear.

JUSTIFICATIONS: Chief Appear has contributed immensely to charity works both in Umuaka and outside Umuaka towards the poor.

9. Youth Ambassador of the Year:

Winner: Chif Chidi Appear:

JUSTIFICTIONS: Has used his position and resources and assisted the youths in and outside Umuaka.
