Ugochi Okoro set to rehabilitate homeless Akalite spotted in the UK.
An Umuaka born social worker and social media influencer Mrs Ugochi Okoro has spotted a homeless Akalite in the streets of London. A brief video interview the social worker conducted with the man who gave his name as Mr Onyinye is said to have travelled to the UK from Ibadan.
From the interview, the young Akalite hails from Isiozi community.
Pressing further, Mr. Onyinye disclosed to the social worker that all he needed was shelter and he was desperately in need of some cash to pay for a hostel where persons like him are kept. After the brief interview which went viral last week, Mrs Okoro confirmed to Umuaka Times correspondent in UK that the Onyinye has disclosed his address to her and she has started holding talks with the immediate family members.
In her efforts to rehabilitate the poor boy, Mrs Okoro has bought him some cloths, gave him some money and paid for him to take a haircut. According to what Umuaka Times gathered, Onyinye was said to be visiting Umuaka from UK twice a year and it was after he has returned from Nigeria back to the UK in his last trip, that he started to complain of some certain issues concerning his person. It was from this point that the whole crisis started.
A high profile Akalite who lives in the United Kingdom disclosed to Umuaka Times last week under the condition of anonymity that the boy in question is suspected to be involved in drugs.
So far, Mrs Okoro is the only person taking care of the rehabilitation of the homeless Akalite for now. Shortly before press time last week, Okoro released a video of her with food items and other useful materials she has packaged to deliver to Onyinye. She used the opportunity to thank her husband Mr Ben Okoro for all his support and understanding.
