3 min readAll is now set for the July 16 2022 big event in the United Sates which promises to promote Umuaka culture and social behaviour to the world. An association of young Akalites based in the United States of America known as Akah Youths & Young Adults in Tri-State Chapter (made up of New Jersey, New York, & Connecticut) will on this date host and display a never-before-seen- cultural day celebrations. The event according to reliable sources is to mark the four years of successful existence of the group under the highly commendable leadership of Mr Chinedu Okoro, the president of the union and the winner of Umuaka Times Cultural Ambassador of the Year 2021 award. The event, according to what Umuaka Times observed early this year, “intends to market Umuaka and Igbo culture to the world, promises to meet up with international cultural exchange activities and standards to the astonishment of the all Africans and non Africans in America”.
Mr Okoro earlier this year disclosed to Umuaka Times that “the preparations by the group towards the big event in July have reached a top gear. The organization has successfully been meeting and fine-tuning the logistics that will ensure a hitch free event. According to him, the “Igboness” of all Akalites in America will come alive on the eventful and colourful day. To drive home the spirit of Akatrotism and cultural revivalism in them, all members of the group have been asked to appear in their specially made traditional attires during the event. This decision by the hierarchy of the association has been applauded as a move that meets up with UNESCO standards and international best cultural practice in some certain quarters.”
While holding talk with the Umuaka Times correspondent in America on the event, Mr Chinedu Okoro simply chipped it thus; “Preparations for the cultural night are in place. Oghu dancers, Umuaka Women, Akah youth dancers and everyone is ready for a good time! Come with your dancing shoes!”
Many Umuaka families across the United States have been advised to prepare for the event with their families which holds in New Jersey on Saturday July 16, 2022.
A couple of months ago, Umuaka Times reported that the Diasporan group, had issued a press statement which was signed by Mazi Chinedu Okoro, president Akah Youths & Young Adults Association, Mazi Tony Onyemepu, president, Akah Union and Lolo Attorney Chi Amuzie, president Akah Women Association, all in the States, announcing that special hotel arrangements have been made for the guests who would be gracing the event from several parts of the United States. A hotel reservation code named “Umuaka” has been provided via +1 973-622-1000 at Robert Treat Best Western Hotel in New Jersey. Check-in starts from Friday July 15, 2022 while check-out is on Sunday July 17, 2022.
