2023: Ukeoma Cyril appeals for consensus candidates in Umuaka.

An Obinwanne born chief, top community leader, educationist and positive change advocate, Chief Ukeoma Cyril, the Dikeoha 1 of Obinwanne has appealed to all politicians in Umuaka to positively prepare for 2023 in unity and achieve a common goal and produce a consensus candidate. The Dikeoha was referring to the unofficial political agenda of Umuaka where the community will present two candidates contesting for one political position while across the Njaba River, (Ndi Ofe Mmiri) will bring a consensus candidate and massively vote for him or her and victory will be theirs.
This development which has been with Umuaka political roadmap according to the Dikeoha, has been going on for over two decades in Umuaka. Hear him in his own words: “As 2023 draws nearer, we have to develop a workable strategy and face 2023 with one mission. All we need to do is to provide a consensus candidate and victory will be ours.”
In order to drive home his point, the Dikeoha cited the victory the late Herbart Dikeocha achieved during his days as a member of the then Imo State House of Assembly. He told Umuaka Times that Dikeocha won the election because there was a sound unity of purpose during those days.
On the solution to control this development which has become a political malady for Akalites, the Dikeoha advocated the need for selfless political ambition among Akalites. He stressed the need for politicians of Umuaka extraction to always build within themselves, the spirit of Akatriotism in them and know when to step down for a better candidate. He appealed to the stakeholders in Umuaka Municipal Council to create a think-tank that will examine and re-examine the characters of Umuaka politicians and know who to ask to move on and who to ask to step down.
In his conclusion, he asked reasonable youths in the community to organize themselves properly and create a platform on how to have a consensus candidate in Umuaka come 2023.
