28-year-old man arrested for hate speech against Ndi Igbo.
2 min readAccording to reports that trended both from the social media and the mainstream media outlets across Nigeria last week, a Nigerian young man of 28 years old has been arrested for posting a hate speech capable of causing a breach of public peace and inciting the Yoruba against the Igbo ethnic group and others. Kehinde Adesogba Adekusibe who posted on his Twitter handle, a call which appealed to the entire country to kill all Igbos was last week arrested by the Osun State Police Command in connection with the post.
Umuaka Times gathered that Kehinde Adekusibe on May 18 2023, twitted on his handle with Twitter, the need in his own opinion, why the Igbo population must be killed.
Writing on his verified Twitter account under the name Princemoye1, the suspect wrote, “Let’s kill all the Igbos. Let’s flush them out of Yoruba lands. I hate these people with passion. They are violent people. They are the worst. They hate us. Let’s hate them without holding back.”
After this post was made by Mr Kehinde Adesogba Adekusibe, it started to generate viewership until it got to the authorities. Last week, the Public Relations Officer, at the Force Headquarters Abuja, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, told newsmen that the suspect has been arrested and investigations into his post have begun.
Further reports which also emerged last week, confirmed that the suspect has confessed to the crime. The arrest of Kehinde Adekusibe was made possible by the intervention of cybercrime department of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Osogbo, the capital city of Osun State.
From February 2023 till date, Umuaka Times investigations have shown that there is an unjustified rise in the hate speech against the Igbo across the country especially in the Southwest.
