A t the age of 56 , Victor Ejimadu of Imo State, Nigeria, passed away peacefully at his League City, Texas, home on June 30 , 2020 , following a brief illness with COVID – 19.
On August 28 , 1963 , Victor was born in Umudioma, Nnerim, into the Sylvester and Geraldine lhegworo families. On December 27, 2004, he tied the knot with Nkechi Ejimadu. At the age of 18, Victor immigrated to the US, eager to start over and provide for his family’s future. 18 year old Victor attended Texas Southern University where he earned a Master’s in management and a Bachelor’s in criminal justice. He worked in several prisons after graduating, including one in Conroe, Texas; another in the parole division of Houston; in 1996, he and his wife, Nkechi, opened a beauty supply company.
Victor completed his LVN training at Kingwood College in 2005, followed by an Associate in Nursing program at the University of Arlington, where he obtained his RN certification. Victor was a registered nurse who worked at several hospitals including Clear Lake Regional Memorial Hermann Hospital, Triumph Hospital and the VA Hospital, where he contracted the coronavirus. Victor was a doctoral student at Capella University, studying Public Health and had just finished his fourth year of a five – year program when he passed away.
Victor enjoyed lecturing on history and arithmetic and telling anecdotes. His stories were so captivating that no one could interrupt him once he got going. Within his family, he was always referred to as the “historian” and was always coming up with fresh methods to make people laugh .
He was a huge fan of Bob Marley’s music and his vintage crime dramas like “The Andy Griffith Show” and “Matlock.” He never sought anything in return; he was a giver. Everybody who knew him cherished him and most called him “Sunday.”
His father, Sylvester lhegworo, sister, Celine Oremezie and four children, ljeoma, Chinwendu, Chiebuka and Chibuike, will all miss him and he leaves his wife Nkechi Ejimadu to cherish his memories. Uncles, aunts, brothers in-law, cousins, and a host of friends will also be missed along with him.
