Chief Linus Obimezie Egeolu, fondly known as Nnaoma Di Ebube and Chief Ugo Bu Eze Worldwide, lived a life of faith, service, and community transformation. Born on December 5, 1929, in Orodo, Nigeria, he rose from humble beginnings to become a distinguished mechanical engineer, devoted Catholic and a philanthropist.

Early Life and Education: Chief Egeolu was the youngest of six children born to Mr. Egeolu and Ezinne Egemu Egeolu. Despite financial constraints, he excelled academically at St. Mary’s Primary School, Umuaka and later attended Abeokuta Technical School, earning a first-class certification in mechanical engineering.

Professional Career: Chief Egeolu’s career with the Ministry of Works and Housing spanned several decades, during which he rose to become a senior engineer and served in various capacities, including maintaining military vehicles during the Nigerian-Biafran War. His work significantly contributed to infrastructural development across Enugu, Rivers, and Imo States.

Family Life: In 1957, Chief Egeolu married Miss Bernadette Aluechi Dire, and together they raised six children, each continuing the family’s legacy of faith and achievement. Their children include Reverend Sister Felistas Ify Egeolu, Sir Charles Uche Egeolu, Mrs. Bernadette Ijeoma Egeolu Nnoli, Bar. Chidi Justin Egeolu, and Engr. Stanley Sonny Egeolu.

Community Development and Philanthropy: Chief Egeolu was a cornerstone of his community, known for his generosity and contributions to the development of his town. He graded local roads, constructed the Amiyi Hall, and served as a signatory for the Umuaka town hall in Port Harcourt.

Faith and Church Involvement: A devout Catholic, Chief Egeolu held leadership roles in the Universal Catholic Church, including Chairman of the Church Building Committee and Patron of the Catholic Men’s Organization (CMO).
