In IsioziAkah Imo State on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, marked a historic moment at St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish as two distinguished members of the community received Papal honors. Mr. Kentus Onwudili Nwachukwu, a silent philanthropist, businessman, and devoted parishioner, was formally recognized with a Papal (Leo XIV) Award for his outstanding contributions to the growth of the Church and the development of his community.

Chief Felix Nnamdi Igboanugo, also a native of Isiozi Akah, was similarly honored. The parish priest, Rev. Fr. Isadore Igwegbe, announced the awards to the congregation, noting that this marked the first time a parish member had received such distinguished recognition. The announcement was met with jubilation, as congregants celebrated with singing, dancing, and heartfelt expressions of appreciation for both awardees.

Mr. Nwachukwu, whose philanthropic endeavours are widely recognized in the U.S., Canada, and Nigeria, is currently financing the construction of a parish hall estimated at over ₦150 million. Through his scholarship foundation, established five years ago, he has provided an annual sum of ₦10 million to support local students’ education. To date, the foundation has successfully graduated 15 scholars.

In an exclusive interview with Umuaka Times, Mr. Nwachukwu shared that his own educational journey was limited by financial constraints, motivating him to create opportunities for others to acquire academic education. Each January 1, Nwachukwu replenishes the scholarship fund, ensuring continuous support for deserving students.

Beyond education, Mr. Nwachukwu has demonstrated wide-ranging generosity. He has donated ₦5 million each to the local chiefs and the women of Isiozi Akah respectively. His charitable reach extends beyond his hometown; recently, he awarded a scholarship to a talented young girl he encountered at Imo Airport, moved by her potential.

Currently, Mr. Nwachukwu is financing the construction of roads throughout Isiozi Akah, with plans to install solar energy solutions. His humility, generosity, and dedication to community development have earned him widespread admiration, inspiring calls for more individuals to follow his example.

The people of Isiozi Akah and Umuaka at large continue to pray for the sustained success and blessing of Mr. Nwachukwu’s charitable endeavors.
