Chief Okey Ugwoegbu gives vote of thanks to Akalites.

Abuja based businessman and a high profile Akalite, Chief Okey Ugwoegbu, the Ugwumba 1 of Umuaka has on behalf of his lolo sent a vote of thanks to all his friends and relations who came all the way from Umuaka and other parts of the country to mark the passage of his father in-law in Emeke Agbala Naze in Owerri North LGA of the state.

Top community leader and a devote Christian father of Roman Catholic faith, Mazi Duru Wilbird Anyaehiwa Onyeanu who died a couple of months ago was buried on Friday October 11, 2024 at the age of 92. Umuaka Times correspondents gathered that four buses took off from Umuaka to convey family and friends who took part in the burial ceremonies of the nonagenarian in Naze.

Speaking with Umuaka Times reporters during the epoch-making event, Chief Ugwoegbu extolled the virtues of his father in-law and went further to thank all the people who came from far and near to celebrate the life and passage of his father in-law.

In his words, Chief Ugwoegbu told Umuaka Times thus: “On behalf of my dear wife Lolo Evans Blessing Ugwoegbu, I want to use this opportunity to thank all the people who stood with us before, during and after the burial of my beloved father in-law. I am aware that many people left behind all their personal and official engagements and decide to celebrate with us a life lived in Christ Jesus.”

The Ugwumba 1 of Umuaka also acknowledged the contributions of those who really wanted to attend the burial ceremony but could not make it due to some inevitable circumstances. He further prayed to God to continue to bless and protect both those who made it to Naze and others who could not make it.

“I also want to add that my father in-law lived for 92 years and we will live beyond that in Jesus name.”

Umuaka Times reports that several Akalites who attended the event came under the auspices of several organizations operating in Umuaka.
