Esomonu: “One Nigeria is a deception”. Calls for census boycott.

US based politician and an intending member of Labour Party, Chief Victor Onyeka Esomonu has raised an alarm over the false claim of “one Nigeria” among some citizens of the nation. Chief Esomonu who stated this in a press statement he forwarded to the Umuaka Times correspondent in America recently, was reacting to the discriminations and violence deliberately directed against a particular ethnic group during the presidential and governorship elections held in Nigeria a couple of weeks ago.

While expressing his deep-rooted anger and disappointment over the role played by some state actors across Nigeria, he lamented that the current INEC leadership has given Nigerians the worst elections in the history of democracy in the country. “Elections in Nigeria are a scam. After spending billions of dollars and four solid years in preparation, INEC gave us the worst election experience in the history of Nigeria.”

Continuing on his submissions and disappointments, Esomonu concluded: “Nigerians are still crying over the presidential election held on February 25th 2023 but the worst is the gubernatorial election that just happened on March 18, 2023. A country that parades herself as the Giant of African can’t even organize a little thing as election. I cry for my country.”

On the violence and intimidation that marred the whole electoral process in Lagos, especially the threats from APC followers who openly and violently disfranchised the Igbo residents in the Southwest zone, Esomonu used the opportunity and appealed to the Igbo and the entire Obidients in Lagos to shun the national census exercise which comes up next month. “I’m calling on my Igbo brothers and sisters in Lagos to boycott the upcoming census because if they don’t want us to vote in Lagos, they don’t want us to be counted among them”.

On his final note, Chief Esomonu warned politicians that “The whole world is watching the kind of Democracy we are practicing and we are making mockery of Democracy in Nigeria”.
