Top community leader, high profile chief and the former chairman of Njaba LGA, Dr. Eddy Ikwubuo, the Agunechemba Njaba has denied any involvement concerning him eying the stool of the royal father of Umuaka community, Eze Henry Izuchukwu Ojinnaka. Dr. Ikwubuo made the denial in a brief interview he granted to Umuaka Times a couple of days ago in Owerri. He admitted that he was aware of some rumours by certain people at certain quarters in and outside the community alleging and accusing him of trying to take the position of Eze Ojinnaka and become the next monarch of Umuaka.

The Agunechemba who claimed that the Ojinnaka royal family has bluntly refused to recognize him as the traditional prime minister of the community among other sensitive positions, told Umuaka Times that the mischief makers are acting from their guilty consciences for not recognizing him with the highly exulted positions he deserves. He confirmed to Umuaka Times that the rumour in question has been going on over the years. According to him, a couple of years ago during the reign of the late Eze Aloysius Ojinnaka, on a certain day, he went to the palace of the monarch during a meeting where he removed his shoes and called upon the sun and the gods of the land to bear him witness that he had no interest in the stool. Hear him: “Honestly this rumour is so shocking to me. I feel it is the function of insecurity. I can feel the body language. Remember I was once the chairman of Njaba LGA and that was the best opportunity for me to take the office if by any means I was interested in it. But I did not do such things and here I am today being accused of a dream I have never dreamt of in my entire life. Honestly and without being told, you can see that some people are feeling insecure for reasons best known to them.”

In order to justify his claims of not showing any form of interest on the stool, Dr Ikwubuo painted a graphic picture of his positive roles in the community. He told Umuaka Times how he has supported very stoutly, all the programs in the community since he came back from the United States. He cited among other things, his role during the formative years of High School Umuaka, the Relief Market and the actions and decisions he took during the days of insecurity when he was the chairman of Njaba LGA. Dr Ikwubuo also reminded Umuaka Times how he graded the roads in Umuaka during his reign as the local council chairman.

On the way forward for the community, the Agunechemba described those fueling the rumour as mischief makers and advised them to jettison such an abominable rumour and find the way to move the community forward by doing the right necessary things.

“Our community today has a lot of problems begging for solutions, I sincerely advise those creating and advancing the rumour against me to think of how to move Uba Umuaka forward and leave Agunechemba alone.”

On the current security situation in Umuaka, High Chief Ikwubuo appealed to the people of Umuaka Municipal Council to remain calm and report any suspicious activity by anybody to the authorities as the community is working round the clock to arrest the situation.

Agunechemba Njaba finally restated his position that he is not interested to drag any stool with Eze Ojinnaka and the entire Ojinnaka royal family. He confirmed to Umuaka Times that he would support any good program on how to develop the community coming from the office of the traditional ruler, His Royal Highness Eze Henry Izuchukwu Ojinnaka, the Eze Si n’Obi the forth of Umuaka. To prove his innocence, the Agunechemba challenged anybody living in or outside Nigeria to come up with any prove where he has called a meeting or sent people to call any meeting on his behalf where the agenda was to discuss how to strip Eze Ojinnaka of his stool and crown him, High Chief Eddy Ikwubuo the next royal father of Umuaka community.

His message for Umuaka people: “I am using this opportunity to appeal to our people that it is not late for us to go back to the drawing board and make sure that all those neglected are carried along and the community will immensely benefit. I will totally support Eze Ojinnaka in all his programs only when he recognizes me as the traditional prime minister of the community and others who need to be recognized as well. We can’t condemn the marginalization going on in Nigeria against Ndi Igbo and come home and do the same to ourselves. Such injustices at the highest level of authority are not acceptable to me. ”
