US based high profile Akalite, businessman, philanthropist and a top community leader, Chief Benji Iheme has been rejoicing with his family and friends on the honours that have so far come his way in the year 2023. First was in July 2023 when the entire Umuaka community in Dallas presented a prestigious award to him and his wife in recognition of his role towards the Umuaka community in Dallas. Another honour came in August 2023 when the Orlu regional community in Dallas also presented him with an award. Earlier this month, Chief Benji Iheme emerged as the winner of Umuaka Times Outstanding Youths Supporter of the Year Award 2023.

As if all the honours were not enough, the easy going Iheme on December 28 added another honour to a long list of honours dangling across his neck. The royal father of Ibele Autonomous Community Eze Rufus Anyanwu conferred on him a prestigious chieftaincy title of Oputa Obie 1 of Ibele Ancient Kingdom.

While holding talks with Umuaka Times reporters who went to the ceremony, Chief Iheme was asked why he took the name Oputa Obie. According to him, the name was given to him by his people because they have always confirmed that he takes care of widows, youths and many more in Ibele community.

Chief Benji Iheme saw the new honour as a stepping stone to reaching out to many more people in the society. He prayed to God to continue to bless his people and urged the youths to work hard as the situation of today demands.
