NUPI set to honour Austin Agbahiwe.

The New Umuaka Project Initiative NUPI, has set aside Thursday 29 December 2022 as a special award night to remember. On this partucular which promises to be eventful, NUPI, the apex socio cultural organization in Umuaka Municipal Council will be honouring an illustrious Akalite, Dr Austin Agbahiwe.
This information was contained in a press statement issued last week by Mr Chimnemezu Nwaeze (Vinepaul) the Youth Director of NUPI. According to the press statement, there will also be a lecture during the award night titled, People, Community and Development. This event is scheduled to hold at Dr Austin Agbahiwe’s event centre in Ibele Autonomous Community.
While answering questions from an Umuaka Times reporter who called on him over the weekend, Nwaeze confirmed to Umuaka Times that several activities have been lined up to grace the epoch-making event. Umuaka Times reliably gathered that there will be side attractions like lectures, brochure launch, music performances, spoken words display, poetry renditions and more.
On why NUPI has decided to honour its Global Administrator, Dr Austin Agbahiwe who will also be the keynote speaker during the event, the Youth Director of NUPI, told Umuaka Times in simple terms; “It’s necessary because it’s good to honour trail blazers when they are still alive. We should always endeavour to give people their flowers when they are still alive. It’s said that a prophet is not respected in his land but outside. We don’t wish to toll that lane because we know all the sacrifices, developments and bullets Dr. Agbahiwe had taken and is still taking from his people because of the love he has for Umuaka.”
As at press time last week, Umuaka Times had confirmed that several highly placed Akalites both in and outside Nigeria are expected at the event which will kick off by 5pm.
Umuaka Times has been named the official newspaper of the event. It can be recalled that earlier this year, Dr Ahgahiwe handed over the administration of NUPI to Dr Uche Oguike, a London based Akalite and high profile dentist.
