Orlu Owerri Road records high accidents rate.

Just few days away to Christmas and few months away from the completion of Orlu Owerri Road, there has been a record of various fatal motor accidents along the Orlu Owerri Road in Imo State. There is hardly a week that passes by without any record of motor accident on the road and most at times, the victims usually die. A few weeks ago, a bus driver on speed from Owerri to Orlu lost control while making a phone call, lost control and killed a pregnant woman, her mother in-law and her step-son. The accident which occurred in Ubommiri area of the road, wiped out almost all the members of a particular family. The accident in question occurred on a Sunday, and the victims were said to be returning home from a nearby church.
ON the Saturday before the black Sunday that wiped out almost an entire family, there was yet another accident which took place in Orodo area and killed 4 persons.
A few weeks ago, an Obinwanne woman who was returning from Nkwo Orodo lost her life in front of White House in Achara Umuaka when a Mercedes SUV lost control and killed her. Shortly before then, a teenage boy named Promise Chukwuebuka Hycenth also lost his life at the same spot after a serious accident.
The sad news can go on and on but the main problem is that people tend to be very careless while driving on good roads like Orlu Owerri Road. Some drivers who spoke with Umuaka Times complained that villagers who live between Orodo, Umuaka, Okwudor and more are usually careless while using the express road.
There may be more records of road mishaps from now till early January if proper care is not taken into consideration by stakeholders.
