Uba community set to inject N100m at Hilltop and High Sch.

3 min read

The Uba Umuaka community has launched an aggressive project to inject a whopping sum of N100 million at Hilltop Primary School and High School Umuaka collectively. The project which will see the entire school premises totally transformed to a modern day school environment has already received the blessing and backing of the royal father of the community, HRH Eze Henry Ojinnaka and other top stakeholders in the current Umuaka community as presently constituted.

In a brief interview with the US correspondent of Umuaka Times last week in view of the developments, US based legal luminary, author and international consultant, Professor Emeka Duruigbo, disclosed to Umuaka Times, the modalities to follow in the school renovation projects. According to the erudite scholar, the buildings at the school will undergo aggressive demolition and new (modern) ones erected. “There will be an administrative block, staff room, library and more,” the professor disclosed.

Umuaka Times also gathered that the entire premises of the two schools will be beautified and fenced which will provide assistance in the fortification of the security situation of the two institutions, especially in this era of ongoing kidnapping and child thefts. In addition, the community will also provide pipe borne water for the pupils and students of the schools.

Umuaka Times reporters who engaged Professor Duruigbo over the weekend confirmed that there is a high level of preparations towards the realization of the projects. Already, the community has created a roadmap for achieving the feat; an education committee headed by Professor Emeka Duruigbo was commissioned about a year ago and it has been making bold moves and taking charge on the schools.

On how to realize the N100 million, Professor Duruigbo disclosed to Umuaka Times that a virtual launching has been fixed to hold in the month of March 2024. A document Umuaka Times obtained from the professor admits thus: “Our preliminary assessment indicates that we can execute these projects with a budget of 100 million Naira. We will be calling on all of us to participate in accomplishing these tasks. Needless to say that many of us benefited from the primary school and will continue to enjoy the benefits of viable and vibrant educational institutions in our beloved community. We know that there are dozens of Uba people that can donate 1 million Naira or more to these projects. Precisely, we expect 100 public-spirited Uba sons and daughters that are financially capable to donate at least 1 million Naira for the school project. We will be counting on you as well as on those whose donations will be much smaller than that amount. Let us all participate. Team work Works!”

A couple of months ago, Umuaka Times carried out a comprehensive coverage and video documentary on the deplorable condition of the great Hilltop Primary School. The documentary and other findings made at the school(s) gave birth to the call to modernize the institutions.

The following sons and daughters of the community constitute the memberships of Umuaka Education Development Board: 1. Barrister Chinwe Agams, 2.
