Recently, history was made in Isiozi Akah Autonomous Community when Engineer Simon Chukwudi McBernard Iberosi, an UbaUmuaka indigene and a US-based telecommunications engineer, energy management consultant, a Walden Social Change Fellow, and the current president of Umuaka Family Union, Atlanta, was bestowed with the distinguished title of Ugochinyere 1 by the royal father of Isiozi Akah Autonomous Community, His Royal Majesty, Eze Victor Ijeoma, a barrister at law and the Isi Udo I of Isiozi-Akah. The epoch-making event which took place on September 6, 2025, was held at the prestigious palace of HRH Eze Victor Ijeoma palace.

Umuaka Times gathered that due to the prevailing security challenges in the locality of Njaba LGA and at the instance of Dr. Iberosi, the occasion was marked without the usual fanfare such events typically attract. Nonetheless, the Isi Udo 1 extended to Chief Iberosi all the courtesies, pomp, and circumstance appropriate for the occasion, assisted by his chiefs-in-council. The event was both unique and memorable.

In his remarks, the Isiozi Akah monarch stated that the meritorious chieftaincy conferment upon Chief Iberosi, popularly known as McBee, was “in recognition of your tremendous efforts to restore peace and promote human capital and infrastructural development in Umuaka community… and our friendship which has spanned over the years.”

Chief Iberosi, in his vote of thanks, expressed deep appreciation, saying: “With utmost humility and profound gratitude, I acknowledge and appreciate the singular honor you bestowed upon me through the conferment of the distinguished chieftaincy title—Ugochinyere 1 on this day. This recognition is one of the highest privileges of my life, and I do not take it lightly. The title is not merely a decoration; it is a call to greater service and responsibility toward the development of your palace and the community at large.”

It was indeed a solemn and unforgettable event; under the circumstances, Chief Iberosi was accompanied by his elder brother, Mr. Thaddeus Iberosi and his two daughters: Chinemerem and Ogochukwu; and also his longtime high school friend, Mr. Julius “Jah Julie” Ozoemena, who resides in New York, USA. Both have since returned safely to their respective bases in the U.S.

Umuaka Times correspondents are pleased to congratulate Chief Simon McBee Iberosi, an engineer, academic doctor, sir and a host of other titles on this well-deserved chieftaincy conferment as Ugochinyere 1 of Isiozi Akah. Akalites, family and friends and well-wishers look forward to the grand festivities that will follow at an opportune time to celebrate this distinguished honor!
