Killers of Arise TV reporter arrested by the police in Abuja.

From an exclusive police report Umuaka Times came across last week, the armed robbers who attacked a private estate in Abuja that led to the death of a female Arise TV station correspondent, Somtochukwu Christabel Maduagwu have been arrested by the police. Umuaka Times gathered that the armed robbery suspects who were 12 in number were arrested by the FCT Police Command.

It can be recalled that on Monday September 29, 2025, dare devil armed robbers numbering more than 10 stormed the Unique Apartment private estate precisely in the Gishiri village of Katampe District Abuja where the late Arise TV station correspondent and a security guard in the estate named Mr. Barnabas Danlami lost their lives during the armed robbery attack.

According to the police report, the gallant men of the Police’s Scorpion Squad, led by ACP Victor Godfrey, were tracked and arrested just a week after the ugly incident.

The suspects who were so far arrested include, Musa Umar, 31 (Maiduguri, Borno State), AbubakarAlkamu, 27 (Musawa, Katsina State), Shamsudeen Hassan (Malumfashi, Katsina State), Hassan Isah, 22 (Zaria, Kaduna State), SaniSirajo, 20 (Malumfashi, Katsina State), Zaharadeen Muhammad, 23 (Chikun, Kaduna State), MashkurJamili, 28 (Igabi, Kaduna State), Sumayya Mohammed, 27 (Sammaka, Kaduna State), Suleiman Badamasi, 21 (Malumfashi, Katsina State), IsahAbdulrahman, 25 (Zaria, Kaduna State), AbdulsalamSaleh (Katsina LGA, Katsina State) and Musa Adamu, 30 (Malumfashi, Katsina State).

It was also confirmed by the police that four suspects among the arrested suspects which include, Alkamu, Shamsudeen, Hassan and Sirajo had already confessed to the crime and explained their roles in the heinous crime. They were the first to be arrested and their cooperation with the police served as a lead to the arrests of other suspects. Umuaka Times gathered that it was Shamsudeen that reportedly shot the security man named Mr. Barnabas Danlami. A crime he had already confessed to. He also claimed that he tried his best to hold the Arise TV station reporter while she was falling from the third floor of the building. He further disclosed that it was he, who drove away the private car of the victim, (Honda CR-V utility van).

The police also disclosed that some items have so far been recovered from the suspects which include one AK-47 rifle, one locally-made pistol, one pump-action gun, 36 rounds of live ammunition, two cartridges, two knives, a cutlass, four mobile phones, and nine torchlights. A large sum of money was said to be shared among the suspects where each of them received the sum of N200, 000 each.

Having termed the robbery a success, on October 8, 2025, the police arrested Hassan Isah and Musa Umar while planning another robbery at the Maitama side of Abuja. It is expected that the suspects will soon be charged to court.
