Followers of Dr. T.J. Ehirim a major contender for Imo State governorship election come 2027, Imo youths, and other Imo natives in South Africa and Nigeria have expressed strong reservations over a recent publication by The Onion newspaper, which placed Dr. Ehirim’s picture last among 19 other potential candidates for the 2027 Imo State governorship election.

The Imo youths have voiced their disappointment, stating that the publication may mislead the people of Imo State, who overwhelmingly prefer Dr. Ehirim as their choice for governor. In a statement, Dr. Ehirim’s supporters alleged that the publication was sponsored and intentionally designed to undermine the candidacy of their principal.

The Imo State Emancipation Movement, a group backing Dr. Ehirim’s candidacy, has appealed to the youths of Imo State to disregard the picture placement and continue to rally behind their preferred candidate. They cited Dr. Ehirim’s exceptional education, international exposure, and track record of integrity in public service as reasons that make him the best man for the job.

Dr. Ehirim, a UNN-trained professional from Umuaka, Isu clan, is vying to become the first executive governor from the largest clan in Imo State. His supporters believe his leadership would bring genuine unity, reconciliation, and development to Imo State and Nigeria as a whole.

The group praised Dr. Ehirim’s “Let the best of us lead the rest of us” philosophy, promising his election would mark a new era of merit-based governance in Imo State. They urged all Imo youths to remain focused on their preferred candidate and ignore attempts to undermine his candidacy.
