Imo 2027: The Chances of Ikedi Ohakim.
1 min read
Ikedi Ohakim served as Governor of Imo State from May 29, 2007, to May 29, 2011, representing the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) party before switching to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

His “New Face of Imo” program focused on environmental revolution, rural transformation, human capital development, infrastructure renewal, and economic reorientation. His notable initiatives include:
– Clean and Green Initiative: transformed Owerri into one of Nigeria’s cleanest cities
– Free Education Policy: introduced free education up to secondary school level
– Infrastructure Development: constructed approximately 450km of roads, including Imo Free Way and Inner Ring Road projects
– Agricultural Development: revitalized Adapalm (Imo Palm Plantation), creating jobs and revenue.
A native of Okohia, Isiala Mbano LGA, Ohakim hails from Imo State’s Owerri Senatorial Zone. Some political observers argue that the zone should be allowed to complete her second term. It is not a question of zoning; it is the Imo voters that will decide the political fate of Ohakim.
Be that as it may, Ohakim has been very active in the recent time in the government and politics of Imo State. Some say he is the favoured choice of Senator Hope Uzodimma.
