2 min read

When the news that Mr Oscar  Uchenna Nnozirim, a youthful Akalite and home based businessman from Amiyi was in dare need of an urgent medical attention was broken by Umuaka Times a couple of months ago, Akalites in their usual charity manner, pulled resources together and raised the total funds needed to foot the hospital bills for Mr Nnozirim who would be undergoing a kidney transplant surgery in far away India.

Close to two months after the money was raised, Nnozirim, Umuaka Times gathered is yet to embark on the medical trip to India due to the difficulties  associated with medical tourism and logistics. Getting the whole medical documents and travel papers was a bit difficult for the team handling the Uchenna  Nnozirim medical tourism project. Umuaka Times was reliably informed that Uche, his wife and a donor were supposed to travel last week but could not embark on the trip because of issues relating to logistics.

As it stands now from the details Umuaka Times obtained from a reliable source, a lot of success has been made so far and Uchenna Nnozirim and his team are bound to embark on the medical tourism to India,  a couple of weeks from now.

On the case of Master Ugochukwu Iwunna who needs to undergo a correctional surgery to enable him to start passing urine without the aid of a pipe, a couple of weeks ago, was taken to the University of  Nigeria Teaching Hospital UNTH, Enugu, under the supervision of Umuaka born Professor, Obioha Kingsley Chukwu Episteme,  a consultant  obstetrician and gynecologist, cosmetic and aesthetic surgeon and fertility guru. In a recorded video message released by Professor Obioha over two weeks ago to give an update to many Akalites who have demonstrated solidarity and support to the family of the little boy, the only delay in the case of Ugochukwu Iwunna has been the resident doctors’ industrial action. He promised that the moment the industrial action by resident doctors is called off, the family will be informed to prepare for the surgery.

For Oscar Uchenna Nnozirim and Ugochukwu Iwunna, it is only a question of time, medical expertise and prayers, they will be free from their medical challenges and rejoin their fellow Akalites in the blessed city of Umuaka. Akalites, friends and well wishers of these gentlemen are anxiously awaiting for that day the two families will rejoice and give thanks to God. Umuaka Times wishes them quick recoveries.
