Simeon Okoro Lecture: Mbachu, Agams hail participants.
2 min readThe participants who took part in the Simeon Okoro Annual Lecture on December 26 via zoom webinar have been hailed by the guest lecturer Barrister Chinwe Lesley Agams and the founder of the famous Simeon Okoro Foundation, Prof I.O. Mbachu for their role and personal commitments during the event that lasted more than 2 hours. Many people especially those from Umuaka could not connect to the zoom lecture due to poor network coverage in the area but those who finally connected took part in the lecture from the beginning to the end of the 2 hour lecture.
After delivering the lecture, Agams told Umuaka Times that she was personally impressed by the role played by participants and further called for emulation by others. One of the high points of the lecture was when Agams made an advocacy for Umuaka Historical Soceity. The participants supported Agams’ call for the establishment of the society and suggested ways the community can embrace positive changes.
On the use of technology to deliver the lecture, Agams described it as a way forward for Umuaka and called for further inclusion of the zoom webinar in further lectures so that other Akalites etc across the world would be carried along.
On his own response to the lecture, Dr Mbachu acknowledged to Umuaka Times in a brief interview, that the 19th lecture series of the Simeon Okoro Annual Lecture was the first time the lecture was being held via zoom. He went further to thank those who took part in the lecture in his own words, Prof Mbachu said, “… the lecture was a huge success considering the quality of the attendees (audience) and the interactive session. The lecture was really stimulating and didactic in nature.”
Umuaka Times gathered that the following individuals were able to link up to the lecture. Barrister Lesley Chinwe Agams, the guest lecturer, Dr. Uche Oguike, Dr. Hyacinth Nnoma Iwu, Dr. Praxede Chima Egeonu, Pacaeli Ikenna Egeonu, Miriam Ada Oguike, Lucy Chimeka, Flg Offr.
