University don drums support for Peter Obi.
3 min readA university don, Dr.Ojinnaka Ify -Eva, Political Science lecturer at the Federal University, Otuoke Bayelsa State has called for a massive grassroots support for the presidential bid of the Labour Party’s flag bearer Mr Peter Obi. The university don who is a prince from the Ojinnaka royal family Umuaka Imo State made this call in an article he shared on several whatsapp contacts last week. Dr Ojinnaka regretted that the Nigeria political system is about to collapse and called for the joint efforts of reasonable and good Nigerians to rebuild the country with the efforts of Peter Obi. “When a nation”s socio-political, economic and security systems are about to collapse,it requires collaborative efforts of men and women of good will to save it from total collapse. No doubt since 2015, Nigeria has been bleeding as a result of uninformed political leadership and bad economic managers. In the face of this tremendous odd we have seen some paid agents in mass media blindly and ignobly defending the forces of darkness that have kept the country in perpetual backwardness.”
Driving home his point, Ojinnaka expressed deep disappointment on the attitude of some APC and PDP politicians who have decided to mortgage the entire country for some Naira notes. “Strangely, some uninformed members of APC and PDP have for the seek of political profiteering decidedly mortgaged the future of the country, indeed, the future of their children for few Naira notes, and would like the business of governance to continue as usual after 2023”.
The university don who is a well known author and administrator welcomed the emergence of Peter Obi as the long awaited hope for the Nigerian masses who have suffered from untold hardship over the decades. “Be it as it may, Peter Obi is the long crystallization of the cherished hopes of Nigerian masses who have longed for the emergence of a competent, honest, hardworking and de-trabalized leadership that would genuinely bring decisive changes to Nigeria socio-political and economic systems”.
Ojinnaka described Obi as a man of integrity, honesty and wisdom who has the responsible talent of prudent management of public funds.
On the mental prowess of Obi, Dr Ojinnaka displayed deep confidence and optimism on the intellectual capacity of the new breed politician. He further stressed that it is the intellectual capacity of Obi that has fired the determination of Nigerian youths to give him the massive support that he deserves.
Continuing on his assessment of the current political developments in Nigeria, Ojinnaka acknowledged the fact that he was aware of Nigerian elements who would fight by any means to scuttle the Peter Obi divine project. “As a scholar of power politics and being nurtured on the values of democratic revolution, I am not unaware that decedent political elites who are benefiting from the present corrupt and functional deficient Nigeria system will try to undermine our efforts to usher in new Nigeria come 2023. However, they will fail totally because historical determinism has provided the democratic fertilizer for the oncoming changes. In a nation like Nigeria where the social political, economic and security systems have virtually collapsed -where the state has failed in it’s primary responsibility of protection of lives and property of the citizens, where the government of the day has no value for human lives, where the policies and programs of the government of the day are informed by ethno-religious considerations, where the government by it’s selective action and inaction have created disunity among the people, it is natural that a phenomenon like Obi will emerge”.
Dr Ojinnaka finally ended his essay by warning those who tribalize the Peter Obi project and at the same time, give it a religious coloration to desist from such because the project is a divine mandate. He advised Nigerians to jettison political party variations and affiliations and jointly build the country as the survival of the country is most necessary than any other factor. He called on the Nigerian patriots, professionals, academics, religious leaders, men and women of good to join the Peter Obi movement to save Nigeria.
