Amaechi Dikeocha injects life into Premier School Achara

2 min read

The Umuaka Times exclusive and pathetic feature 2 weeks ago on the sorry state of Premier School Achara has already started to yield positive results. After the publication hit the internet early last week, the news went viral almost immediately and Umuaka Times publisher followed it up with a powerful voice note message which he sent to some prominent Acharans both in and outside Nigeria.

Engineer Amaechi Dikeocha, a philanthropist, top community leader and youth integration advocate was one of the first Acharans to get the message. He immediately displayed the “dikeochaness” in him and placed a call to Umuaka Times and asked some certain questions. Among other things, the London based engineer demanded to have the contact number of the head mistress of the institution. Hours later, Engineer Dikeocha sent a message to Umuaka Times announcing that he has spoken with the school authorities and left an instruction that the school should hire two more teachers and two security men. “I will be paying their salaries.”

As if that was not enough, Engineer Dikeocha also called some Acharans and held talks with them on the possibility of meeting the education secretary in the state. The following day, a team of some top community leaders in Achara visited the education secretary and the whole process became a done deal.

From what Umuaka Times gathered late last week, Premier School Achara has now employed two security men and four teachers. The state government will be responsible for the salaries of the two teachers while Engineer Dikeocha will be responsible for the salaries of the remaining two teachers and the two security men.

In a message sent to Umuaka Times from his base, Engineer Dikeocha wrote, “Education is very important in a community , so there is no time to waste. I have instructed the Head Mistress to advertise, interview and recruit two security men as well as two experienced teachers ASAP. I will take care of their salaries.”

In addition to all the kind gestures of Dikeocha and following the Umuaka Times special focus on Premier School Achara, it was reported that a teacher in the same school has not received her salaries in the last two years. Dikeocha has promised to be funding her transport to work pending when the matter concerning her salaries will be resolved.

While reacting to the development last week, Engineer Dikeocha thanked Umuaka Times for bringing the poor state of Premier School Achara to the fore and used the opportunity also and thanked all who worked in one way or the other to inject life back into the school. He finally appealed to Umuaka stakeholders and the government at all levels to invest in children as they are the leaders of tomorrow.
