America based Umuaka youths set to shake the world on July 16

An association of young Akalites based in the United States of America known as Akah Youths & Young Adults in Tri-State Chapter (New Jersey, New York, & Connecticut) will hold a never-before-seen- cultural day on Saturday July 16, 2022. This event is to mark the commemoration of 4 years of existence of the association. The event which intends to market Umuaka and Igbo culture to the world promises to meet up with international cultural exchange activities and standards to the astonishment of the all Africans and non Africans in America.

The president of the Tri-State Chapter of the Akah Youths & Young Adults group, Mazi Chinedu Okoro, a young Akalite and the winner of the Umuaka Times Cultural Ambassador of the Year Award 2021, while speaking with the Umuaka Times correspondent in America, disclosed that the preparations by the group towards the big event in July have reached a top gear. The organization has successfully been meeting and fine-tuning the logistics that will ensure a hitch free event. According to him, the “Igboness” of all Akalites in America will come alive on the eventful and colourful day. To drive home the spirit of Akatrotism and cultural revivalism in them, all members of the group have been asked to appear in their specially made traditional attires during the event. This decision by the hierarchy of the association has been applauded as a move that meets up with UNESCO standards and international best cultural practice in some certain quarters.


The famous Oghu dance has been penciled down as one of the prime cultural activities of the day. Umuaka Times also gathered that the members of the association are seriously preparing and improving on their dance skills which they will also showcase on that day. Akah Women Association will play a prominent role by thrilling the audience with her own special dance as a major side attraction of the day.

In a press statement issued by the Diasporan group, which was signed by Mazi Chinedu Okoro president Akah Youths & Young Adults Association, Mazi Tony Onyemepu, president, Akah Union and Lolo Attorney Chi Amuzie, president Akah Women Association, all in the States, special hotel arrangements have been made for the guests who would be gracing the event from several parts of the United States. A hotel reservation code named “Umuaka” has been provided via +1 973-622-1000 at Robert Treat Best Western Hotel in New Jersey. Check-in starts from Friday July 15, 2022 while check-out is on Sunday July 17, 2022.

Umuaka Times findings show that many Akalites across the United States have indicated their interest to be part of this event which has been tagged Umuaka Cultural Extravaganza. Umuaka Times has been named the official newspaper of the event.
