Eze Justin Ezeala suspends oghu onye eze 2023 in solidarity with Umuaka families in pain.

The royal father of Obinwanne Umuaka Autonomous Community, HRM Eze Justin Uzoma Ezeala is in the positive side of the news again. This time, the humanitarian royal father, positive change advocate and capacity builder last week confirmed to Umuaka Times that he had backed out of every plan made so far for the long awaited and highly promoted Oghu Onye Eze 2023 edition slated to hold in the month of July in Obinwanne Umuaka. Onye Eze as he is fondly addressed by his subjects and close admirers, told Umuaka Times that he took the decision in solidarity with several families in Umuaka Municipal Council who have suffered one avoidable pain or another in the last couple of months through violence.
It can be recalled that Umuaka community almost became a theatre of human tragedy in the recent time following avoidable human errors and several criminally deliberate acts by some hoodlums who found the community very fertile for their criminal activities. In the month of June 2023, Mr. Onyinyechi (Onyeego) Okebaram lost his life when some members of an Imo based JTF invaded the Obinwanne community, shot and killed him on a very close range. Just a couple of days after the senseless killing of Onyeego, Ikenna Nwachukwu, a youthful and highly stylish police officer reportedly lost his life on active service via circumstances that are still unclear to many.
Then came the famous Oghu Afor Amiyi that suddenly turned violent as several masquerades who were supposed to softly “harass” women and leave them, wildly went after them and inflicted injuries on them. Perhaps one of the worst areas of concern is the era of violent crimes that found deep expression in the community in diverse ways. Both the young and old in the community have in one way or the other, either directly or indirectly made to suffer one heavy loss or another via violent crime in the community.
HRM Eze Justin Ezeala painfully told Umuaka Times last week that “there is no way I will be celebrating while our people are in pain. There is no other way I can feel their pain than to close the Oghu Onye Eze chapter for at least this nyear.”
In his concluding message, the Obinwanne monarch used the opportunity and sent his solidarity and condolence messages to all the families who have suffered in any of the criminal activities that made him suspend the 2023 edition of Oghu Onye Eze.
